The Meeting Street numbers 10701, 10713 and 10715 sit within a few digits of each other in Norton Commons' South Village. By the end of October, all three will hold restaurants with a history somewhere else. Gustavo's Mexican Grill occupies 10701 and already has other restaurants. The Peach Cobbler Factory is opening at 10713, Suite 101. The House of Marigold opens Oct. 8 at 10715, in the space Gustavo's used to occupy.
Follow the North Village address 6301 Meeting St. and the pattern holds. The French bistro Brisé opened there on Sept. 16, one door from the bakery whose owner built it. Every opening this season is a later chapter for an operator who already had a track record. No first-time concept is among them. That says something about how this street grows.
One Block, Three Moves
Gustavo's closed its original Norton Commons restaurant in February and moved a few doors down. Owner Gustavo Reyes said the larger space would let the restaurant seat more guests, according to WDRB's reporting with Louisville Business First. A WHAS11 segment in March described the new building as three stories. The company's site lists it at 10701 Meeting St., with hours of 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
That move left 10715 empty. On Oct. 8, The House of Marigold opens there. The date slipped from an original August target because of a renovation delay. A room that had already been a restaurant still needed enough work to push the opening past its first date.
Marigold brings a solid record. Kris and Adrienne Cole launched Marigold Catering Co. in 2019 and opened The House of Marigold at 10310 Shelbyville Road in 2023. Southern Living named it the best restaurant in Kentucky for 2024. A second new location is on track for 624 E. Market St. in NuLu by late 2026. The original is known for breakfast, brunch and lunch, and both new locations add dinner. Norton Commons is one of the two new locations adding dinner.
"We want to be part of the rhythm of the neighborhood."
Adrienne Cole said that in the announcement. The room she is taking was Gustavo's until this year, and the operator arriving has a restaurant, a catering company and a statewide title behind it. Marigold is a repeat operator opening a new address.
The Dessert Shop Between Them
The Peach Cobbler Factory takes 10713, Suite 101, in the week of Halloween. The shop covers 1,565 square feet and has dine-in, takeout, delivery, catering and a patio. It is the chain's third Louisville-area location, after 805 Blankenbaker Parkway in Middletown and the food court at Mall St. Matthews.
Managing partner Steve Conaway said the team wanted to open in time for Thanksgiving dessert orders. He also called the walkable town-center layout a natural fit. The two existing shops are on Blankenbaker Parkway and inside Mall St. Matthews, and the Norton Commons shop adds a patio and design details meant to fit Meeting Street. Hours and ordering details have not been announced.
That leaves three operators with a combined resume within a few street numbers:
- Gustavo's already runs several restaurants and moved to a larger building on the same street.
- The House of Marigold has a 2023 restaurant on Shelbyville Road, a 2024 statewide title and a NuLu location coming.
- The Peach Cobbler Factory runs two Louisville-area shops and a Nashville-based parent with more than 135 operations in 26 states.
The North Village Version
The other end of the street works the same way, except the operator never left. Debi Hatton, a former bedside nurse at the University of Louisville and nursing professor at Bellarmine University, sold sourdough and European pastries at farmers' markets for years. In July 2024 she opened Crust & Crumb Bakery & Café in a 3,500-square-foot space at 6301 Meeting St. Louisville Business First put the build-out at about $500,000. The building is developed and still owned by the Louisville construction firm Ramage Co.
Two years later she opened Brisé next door. StyleBlueprint reports that Hatton worked with Executive Chef KeJuan Smith on a seasonal menu built on French technique and Kentucky ingredients. Smith is a Sullivan University graduate who started at Churchill Downs and most recently served as executive chef at Gordon Ramsay Steak. Brisé has outdoor dining. One listing site says it is expected to serve dinner Wednesday through Sunday, with afternoon tea and brunch planned later. Those plans are reported rather than confirmed, so call ahead before making a Monday reservation.
The pattern here mirrors the South Village. A daytime business proved itself first, and the owner then built the evening version beside it. Hatton's path ran from market stalls to a bakery to a bistro, and each step built on the one before.
Jump Start Smoothies fits the same mold. The locally owned smoothie and juice bar has stores in Lexington and NuLu, and StyleBlueprint reports it has added a third in Norton Commons. Unlike the NuLu shop, it is not dedicated to gluten-free options, though the menu includes plenty.
The Next Five Weeks, In Order
Openings can slip, as Marigold has already shown, so treat these dates as scheduled rather than guaranteed.
- Friday, Oct. 2: A statewide festival roundup lists Norton Commons Oktoberfest for this date. An earlier listing placed the event in the North Village Market, but this year's time and location were not confirmed in the sources checked.
- Sundays through Nov. 1: The Norton Commons Farmers Market runs from noon to 3 p.m., listed at a 6301 Moonseed Street address by the shops. The Kentucky Proud directory lists a season of April 26 through Nov. 1, so the final Sunday falls on the first of November.
- Thursday, Oct. 8: The House of Marigold opens at 10715 Meeting St., with dinner service.
- The week of Halloween: The Peach Cobbler Factory opens at 10713 Meeting St., Suite 101.
- Late October, date to be announced: The annual Norton Commons Fall Festival has historically been held at Oval Park at 10911 Meeting St. Past editions included face painting, train rides and trick-or-treating from 2 to 4 p.m. with local vendors. The 2026 date was not available when this was written, so watch the neighborhood's channels for it.
Brisé, Gustavo's and Crust & Crumb are open now.
Read in date order, the list runs from the market's final Sundays to a Thursday opening at 10715 and a dessert shop at 10713. Each newcomer arrives with a history at another address, and Marigold's opening is nine days away.
